Day One:
U. S. GATEWAY - LONDON - Your overseas flight will include dinner, movie and breakfast inflight, as you look forward to the next exciting week in London.Arrive.
Day Two:
LONDON - Welcome to the U.K. Your flight will touch down this morning at London's Gatwick or Heathrow International Airport. After clearing passport control, collecting your luggage, and passing through customs, you'll meet and Armchair Transport motorcoach and driver for the transfer into your London hotel. Your escort will orient you to the use of your seven-day Underground Pass, and take you for a walk about the area of your hotel, stopping for lunch (always at your own expense). Once you've checked in and freshened up from your journey, you'll venture back out to enjoy a Medieval Banquet. Your host will be Henry VIII, and you'll enjoy a four-course dinner and entertainment. .
HOTEL: PARAGON HOTEL (or similar)
Day Three:
LONDON - After the first of your daily full English breakfasts, an Armchair Transport coach, driver and local tour guide will meet you at your hotel for a half-day overview city tour. You'll see such sights (but not inside visits) as Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden. After lunch you'll visit the British Airways London Eye. This 450-foot-high, recently completed, observation wheel will show you all of London from above. The rest of your afternoon will be at leisure for shopping and sightseeing on your own. Meet back at your hotel for dinner, and then you'll see the first of your West End shows, the monster hit "Mamma Mia!" at the Price Edward Theatre.
Day Four:
LONDON - This morning's excursion will take you into the heart of Old Worlde London, home to the famous Globe Theatre of Shakespeare's time. You'll begin with a guided walk and boat tour along the Thames with one of the Globe's own resident actors. This will lead to a private tour of the Globe Theatre itself, home to many of Shakespeare's originally staged productions. See the grandeur of a centuries-old legend in person, along with an expert guide to give you the inside details and related history. Finally, you'll have "An Intro to Shakespeare," the perfect initiation to the Bard's life and work, led by an actor from the Royal National Theatre, along with an informal Q & A about their life and career. Following your afternoon at leisure, gather back together for dinner at the world's largest Planet Hollywood and a revival of the immortal "My Fair Lady" at the Drury Lane Theatre.
Day Five:
LONDON - EXCURSION TO STRATFORD UPON AVON - Experience Britrail today as you travel to the home of the bard, Stratford upon Avon. Visit the birthplace of Shakespeare, along with the cottage where his wife, Anne Hathaway, grew up. After leisure time in the bustling shopping areas of Stratford, you'll have dinner at a local restaurant and attend a performance at either the Royal Shakespeare Theatre or The Swan Theatre. A late train will return you to your London hotel.
Day Six:
LONDON - Breakfast will be at your leisure this morning, and you can take as long as needed to rest up from yesterday. This afternoon, you'll have a privately guided tour of one of the established performance houses that London is so well known for - the Haymarket Theatre, Her Majesty's Theatre, the English National Opera House or Royal Covent Garden. Top this off with a Meet-The-Artist program, an informal hour of conversation and performance with a West End performer from the production of your choice. Set in a professional West End rehearsal studio, you will learn what it takes to succeed in this competitive and demanding profession, as the guest artist shares career highlights and anecdotes with the group. Following dinner at a West End restaurant, see the world's longest running show, Agatha Christie's classic thriller, "The Mousetrap."
Day Seven:
LONDON - Begin your last day in the city with a visit to the bloody Tower of London, where you'll see the priceless Crown Jewels and other displays, with the assistance of a local guide. Follow that with a visit to Christopher Wren's majestic St. Paul's Cathedral. Enjoy a final afternoon at leisure to shop or sightsee on your own, before your farewell dinner at Porters English Restaurant and the West End smash hit, "The Lion King."
Day Eight:
LONDON - U. S. GATEWAY - Armchair Transport will take you back to Gatwick International Airport where, following checkin, you'll have a chance to spend the last of your British pounds in the fine shops of the airport. Your return flight will give you plenty of time to reminisce with your friends about the last week, and make plans to return another time.
