Heather Christensen, woodwind instructor for the American Fork High School Band, was killed in a bus accident on Saturday evening October 10, as she attempted to regain control of a bus carrying 46 students on their way home from a band competition in Pocatello, Idaho.
Ms. Christensen was sitting in the front of one of four busses on their way home when she noticed the bus driver losing consciousness. The bus was going off the side of the road when she jumped up to try to prevent the bus from crashing. The bus tipped on its side and Heather was thrown from the bus and tragically killed. Her efforts quite possibly saved the lives of dozens of students who could have suffered greater injuries if she had not intervened.
The entire family of New Horizons Tour & Travel extends our deepest sympathy and full support to the family of Ms. Christensen and the students, parents and educators of the American Fork High School Marching Band.
