New Horizons has expanded their popular Music Workshop Weekends for the 2000-2001 school year. In the past, workshop weekends have been offered in the Straits of Mackinaw the first few weekends of May. This year the popular workshop venue has expanded to Chicago and Toronto encompassing a total of four weekends.
In Chicago, workshops are offered on April 27-28, 2001 and May 4-5, 2001. Instrumental workshops are conducted by Dr. Charles Mengini of the Vandercook College of Music while choral workshops are conducted by David Jorlett of the Northern Pines Music Institute. On April 27-28, instrumental and choral workshops are available while on May 4-5, only choral workshops are available.
In Toronto, we are offering instrumental workshops held at the Roy Thompson Hall Rehearsal Facility. This facility, used by the Toronto Symphony, is a world class music hall. Our clinician, Sir William Hughes, will work with groups on Saturday, May 5 and Saturday, May 12, 2001. Sir William is the conductor of the Burlington Teen Band and a former member of the Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines.
In Michigan, New Horizons is offering workshops at the Opera House of Cheboygan in the Straits of Mackinaw. These workshops, in their
